Your favorite Trem circuit?

Thinking of building another tremolo. Built a Demeter Tremulator, which was nice but had a boost in volume when the depth was lowered, which was kind of annoying. EQD Humming Bird is cool.

Suggestions? Doesn't need lots of options.

I really like the Schaller trem circuit. Nothing fancy but incredibly usable.

I haven't played or used one, but I'm thinking of building a clone of the Vox Repeat Percussion trem. It's calling out to me. Anyone used one or built one? Are they worth it?

Culturejam is doing another run of a stutter trem board he had worked with another diy forum guy on some years back. Very strong square wave chop, broad range, control of pulse width, and a depth control that can also make things sound more conventional like it was just a rougher sine or triangle wave trem. But chop is where it's at. Anyway, he was asking for interest on the groupbuy subforum at Madbean pedals. It's not a kit, so some parts sourcing would be in order.

Repeat percussion is a fantastic sound, but it's what the EQD is based on, so you may find it redundant. If you do the RP and the kit is reasonably priced, that saves the trouble of sourcing the funny unijunction transistor that it uses.

I'm a big fan of chop, so the Kay trem circuit is another one I like. Dunno if that's in kit form.

I'd like volume control, the ability to make it choppy and a speed range of mid/semi slow to super fast.

The Hummingbird has that but it also has this pitter patter sound that is part of the nature of the circuit that I don't really like.

I'm pretty sure the Supa Trem is a copy of the Demeter Tremulator, which you've already built.
The Schaller clone I had made (Jimmy Behan did it for me) has a volume control (I think it's a matter of making the internal trim pot an external control) and a switch to make it choppy.

eqd humingbird is the vox repeater, with a few tweaks. vox repeater is a great circuit, highly recomended. small build too.

a) yes and b) as above, well worth it. a really special sounding trem. you won't regret it. vox rep or eqd hummingbird. do it.

hey foot, just waiting for a bag of TL062 to arrive from china, but the tremshifter is my next build. is it a straightforward build (pretty big and involved for a trem)? any pitfalls or useful things to know before diving in? did you build it as spec or tweak anything?

Yes, the Supa Trem is the Demeter Clone but with a independent Volume control as well as the ability to choose the speed range and more choppy trem.

I liked the the Demeter, but the volume increase when the depth was backed off was annoying and the Speed wasn't fast enough.
