twin reverb vs supr reverb

Post by frigid midget »

I'm askin silly amp questions all over the place, I'm on an endless search that'll probably lead me to wanting to hold on to my current rig

Bear with me though, this is a really straight forward question that should be real easy for the Fender affectionados out there:

I've tried quite a few classic fender amps over the years, but I've never messed with a super reverb. If you had to compair it to a Twin Reverb, would you say the Super does the same basic blackface thing, only with different speakers and less power?

It's just that I sorta already decided to eventually add a '65 TR reissue to my little arsenal, but I happend to come across a reasonably prices used SR reissue instead...

Less power/headroom, so it might not be quite as pedal-friendly as the Twin...Though it's still roughly the same weight, and maybe an even bigger pita to haul around, being so tall and bulky and all...:idk:

It'll be pedal-friendly, the question is whether you like the speakers more than anything.

I don't particularly like the 4x10 format, and it's going to be heavier and bulkier than a Twin if that's relevant to you.

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

I know from experience that when I buy something just because it's cheap...I still eventually regret not having waited a little longer untill my first choice poppep up on my local CL or whatever.

I've always been curious about 4x10 cabs though, it's sorta silly that I never got around to trying any 4x10 amps out. I should one day give it a try just for the hell of it.

I'd get the Super Reverb, it's a way better amp than the Twin Reverb Reissue in my opinion, just a much sweeter, thicker, more open and more pleasing sound.
I don't know what they did with those but the Princeton Reverb and Super Reverb are probably the best amps out of the regular Fender line-up, in my opinion they're better than a lot of the boutique amps I've tried next to them.
good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee
