B-Benders

Post by trace »

Anybody have one? I've been thinking of getting one for a while and Achtane spotting one in a photo in the show your amp thread brought them back into my mind.

Specifically does anyone find them useful or have any examples of them used for non-country styles? I would probably put it on the 3rd string instead of the 2nd and use it to bend from DADFAD to DADF#AD, or DADF#AD to DADGAD and in my head it seems like it would be awesome.

I would be putting it on an SG, not a Tele, so that rules out the Parsons pull-strap style. Mainly I've been looking at the hip activated Will Ray Hipshot version-

Or the Bowden Bender-

I tried using a tele one in standard tuning.... I couldn't get any use out of it outside of country, but I didn't have much time with it. I wished it only bent a half step instead of a whole step, I also wished it bent down instead of up.

I'm assuming that was mine in the amp thread.

B-bend and drop-d in one unit. It would seem that you can probably rig it to bend whichever string you want based on the design.

The software crops the pic........tap on it.

Yes! That's the one. How hard is it to get accustomed to the hip bar? What styles of music do you tend to use it for?

The hip-bar is completely intuitive. It's like humping your guitar.
Everyone already knows how. I play mostly downtempo, sludgy, hypnotic stuff. Use with a deep phaser or flanger.
