Tele Pickups. Novak? Klein? what say You.

Post by Sparrow »

In General what are some good "upgraded" Telecaster pickups you like/ tried?
the Tele i'm upgrading has a HB neck route.

at the moment.
i'm on Reverb.com and checking out a few sets.

a set of Novak single soils for $150
i would either resell the bridge. or put it in my other tele ;)

also.
a Klein Broadcaster Tele pup for $60

and.

i'm thinking of a some kind of Goil Coil/Foil for the neck.

any advice?
Blue Strat - Jazzmascis - Tele.
Fender - Squier.
Dr. Scientist - Dirge - FuzzHugger - Montreal Assembly - Hypnodrone.

I love Bareknuckle Flat 50's and there is a Canadian dealer that sells on eBay.

There is also a humbucker sized gold foil in the B/S/T:

check out onamac windery.

the guy sells under Klea3031: http://www.ebay.com/usr/klea3031?_trksi ... 2749.l2754

His pickups are highly regarded over on the telecaster forum. I just got a set and will report back on how they sound.
so much gear...

i decided to grab the Klein Broadcaster/Tele Bridge pup to try out.
reviews seem pretty positive for Klein and tele's.

still not sure on the Neck pup.

the GFS gold foil in the b/s/t is still an option.
but. it's only $7 less than new http://www.guitarfetish.com/GFS-Gold-Fo ... 14445.html

funny i was checking out the Novack tele set on reverb.com
Curtis just emailed me back about his Gold Foil pups - i was asking him about.
so. that' an option too.
Blue Strat - Jazzmascis - Tele.
Fender - Squier.
Dr. Scientist - Dirge - FuzzHugger - Montreal Assembly - Hypnodrone.

I was thinking about putting some Piezo saddle pickups in the tele and just using it as an electric acoustic. Glad I didn't.

thanks for all the suggestions!
Bare Knuckle pickups seem like a great choice too.

i had some emails with Reverb.com people.
some with Mr. Novak.
and. some with Gabriel at Echopark.

But. at this moment .. i'm going to try the Klein Broadcaster in the Bridge.
and. this thing in the neck. go to 3:15 in the video.
not the cheapest deal in town. But. i'm excited as fuck to try it :joy:

i'm pretty adjusted to the new stuff on my Telecaster - now.
the Mastery Bridge is really Great. stays in tune so well. i had some buzz issues. the action was too low on the high strings.
i really Love the Echo Park Gold Coil in the Neck! really jazzy cleans. good bass response. notes sound very clear. Fuzz sounds Rad.

the Klein Pickup in the Bridge. i'm not in Love with.

it's a bit too low output. and i like lower output pups.
it has Lots of mids. too much. the middle position is very Honky/ esp. playing more clean.
i have to set it very high to the strings..
it just sounds kinda choked - compared to other pickups i'm used to.
it does have a warmer tone. so i keep the guitars tone knob cranked.

i may throw the stock back in. and see how that balances with the Neck?
the Bare Knuckle flat 50 in the Bridge seems tempting as well.
