Grounding issue on my Dirge Soda Meiser.

Post by UglyCasanova »

So, this pedal is humming like crazy even when it's bypassed. If I touch it its humming is much lower. Doesn't matter if it's plugged into a 1-spot or voodoo labs 4X4.

Any pointers?

You can sort of hear it at the start of this, and also the change in noise when I touch the pedal to turn the knobs.

You've played this one? Never parting with it now, haha. Used to listen to all of your Devi demos. ;)

I'll try to shoot another short video of it later today, so that you can hear it more clearly. The hissing/humming, I mean.

I can't tell if the lead from the right middle lug is touching the bottom right lug. If so, move it, they shouldn't be touching.

Also, I'd check the connection on the I pot, the bare wire and see if the connection is still good. I cant really tell, but check the lead next to that one and make sure its not touching the potentiometer

You could also run a wire from the jack to the enclosure, from the lead that goes between the two jacks. Thats ground

Lastly, if all else fails, you could swap out those jacks for switchcraft

I had to add a ground wire to one of the jacks on the SM kits I built. I don't remember wich one, but it was not required in the instructions. The SM cirquit is noisy, my units pick up radio, thunderstorms and spirits ...
