Stereo true bypass loop

Post by Iommic Pope »

Probably going to be necessary in my future, can't find a schematic online.
Anyone know what sort of switch I'd need to build one?
For the record, the project would be an a/b selector to spilt the signal then determine which chain I'm using, then three tb loops, all stereo in and out, to ultimately go out to two amps.
Thanks duders.

Yeah it's possible here's two options I can think of.

1) 4PDT switch, the downside is you can't have a LED indicator though.
2) Relays, two DPDT would do it, with the control tied together to control both relays at the same time.

For the 4PDT if you're not sure how to wire it up just google for DPDT true bypass wiring and you'll notice you'll use exactly half a switch for each channel.

Ah hah! That makes sense.
Thanks man! :thumb:
I had a feeling that was the case, but wasn't 100%.

Kinda sucks though, I did want to go LEDs. Just to idiot proof it (it is for personal use).

Not sure I have the technical wizarding powers necessary to go relays but I'll check that out now....

Have you investigated the (perpetually misspelled) Millenium Bypass?

I think you could achieve true bypass with it and a 4PDT.

Get a relay bypass board, its not really that hard to build
I recomment these:

scroll down to "finish line"

You could easily chain them together for your application.

Built one of these a long time ago, and did what I wanted; stereo a/b/y

The schematic;

It's two loops, which you can run A stereo, or B stereo, and you can split Y, A on one side, B on the other.

These were the switches I used;

Not cheap at all, but VERY quiet switching.

Hmmm, thanks guys.
Looks like I've got some reading to do.

Holy shit those switches are expensive. That kinda looks like what I'm trying to achieve before the three loops though.
Thanks again dudes!

I'm not saying that it won't work with your good 'ole run of the mill stomp switches. I would try them first, but if you get clicking issues, the ITT ones help.
