THROBBING

Post by neonblack »

Go ahead, ya perverts. Laugh it up.

So, I'm on the hunt. I want to add some intense throbbing modulation to my board. I have a Polytope but I would say it's more warbly, even though it does get pretty deep and bassy at certain settings.

I don't like the "wow wow wow" thing with phasers. I think I'm looking for a Depths, but I was going to see if there was a better option. Any favorites?

I'm not opposed to phasers as long as it doesn't just do the "wow wow wow" thing. If that makes any sense.

Had a chance to try out the Black Cat Vibe a while back. Very throbbing.

Or maybe a Gristleizer.

I'm with you on the phaser issue. I really like what I've heard with the Depths, but I've never played one myself. My old gristleizer was great for getting throbbing sounds - not sure if it's within the area you're aiming for, but it's definitely an alternative to consider.

The Versa Vibe has a bass throb knob which gets pretty throbby.

Here I am using it in the f/x loop of the Swirlpool.

villanova vibe may suit, but if u wanna go pro - just take fulltone dejavibe - sounds "inyourface" , provides really deep throb

Maybe something like the MF Trem would work? Never used it but
TONE- This control affects the Tremolo signal only leaving the dry signal untouched. At maximum, all frequencies are affected by the tremolo. As the Tone control position is decreased, the effect of the tremolo becomes more-subtle. From the mid position down, the Tone control can be used to dial in sounds that impact only low frequencies in your instrument or to shape classic rotary swirl and phase-like sounds.

Gristleizer sounds really cool. I'm definitely going to look into that.

And I think the music store here has those minifoogers. I'll have to try one out. Been looking at the Zvex Sonar lately too. I bet it can do some throbbing. Maybe.

The Depths can certainly throb, it's pretty flexible too. For an awesome subtle throb, I love the harmonic trem from Strymon's Mobius and the Flint.

He knows throb for sure. But right now he is in the car driving to me.
I think he won't reply lenghty before the Weekend.

And Tris is not a Fan of The depths vibe though. Probably of interest: Tris and I did a comparison of some vibes in June:

This time we will add the castledine supravibe to the comparison.

When I think of throbbing, univibe is the first thing that comes to mind. Also some tremolos even a couple flangers can do that, but univibe is definitely where I'd go.

The Swirlpool is fucking awesome! I've been wanting one of those forever and that Versa Vibe sounds great!

I'm throbbing right now. Does that count?

Well, I have a Gristleizer coming in temporarily. If it's what I'm looking for, I'm gonna build myself one of the musicpcb ones. And probably a tap tempo trem too.

I've been interested in the depths for a while now. Footprint+features really appeals to me.

I'd love a Pitchfactor or an H9. For so many reasons. Dat price tho...

Wish the Depths had tap tempo though, that's why I traded it away.
