++++ Non-muff fuzz with MIDS ++++
Been looking for a non muff variants that kinda mid-rangey/has mid control knob/has that mid-honk the TS does. Finally realize that muff isn't floating my boners anymore :-( With this band of mine, the only pedal that cuts through during loud parts of the songs (fighting the driving bass, stupid cymbals & open hi-hats) is my ts clone. Still looking for a fuzzy structure with the same EQ spectrum.

Megalith...but I guess that depends on what type of band you're in.

I play in a shoegaze/nugaze band. That's one great sounding pedal, but more towards distortion side though. I really want a fuzzy/velcro-ey texture fuzz box. I already stacked too much pedals, so hopefully I could get an individual pedal for this application.MEC wrote:Megalith...but I guess that depends on what type of band you're in.

TAFM!
Not a muff. Mids out the ass. Cuts like buttah. Versatile as hell. Good builder.
Or a Buzzz! Also versatile. Octave up. Mids mids mids. Need caffeine. No entire sentences.

Beat me to it. TAFM is the answer. Based off the fuzz face I believe.neonblack wrote:TAFM!

There's a TAFM (not mine) in the bst right now for SUPER cheap. Now is the time to try it out.

I was going to suggest the Jordan Bosstone. As an owner of the real deal, what do you think UG?Uncle Grandfather wrote:Tone bender mkIII and it's varients like the buzzaround or dizzy tone, or something like the tone bender mkIII/mkIV doomy emanating fist electronics lucifer rising.

That's in the opposite direction of a big muff for sure, it's about perfect for horn like sounding single lines. It's easy to be a favorite sounding fuzz, the Mahoney clone I have is really close to capturing the rawness of the original at a fraction of the cost. I really think its one of the essential original fuzz tones that everyone should have available.KaosCill8r wrote:I was going to suggest the Jordan Bosstone. Unless I missed the OPs original question I thought that he was after something that didn't sound like a muff. Which is why I suggested the Bosstone. I built a clone. It has nice sustain like a muff but has a nicer quality tone. Less likely to get lost in a mix. And it has awesome clean up qualities too. Much nicer fuzz than the Muff in my opinion.

I've been thinking of trying out a Bosstone for a while, too - looks like those Mahoneys are pretty readily available (and affordable!) on fleabay:

I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.
