Your favorite amp under 10 watts.

Post by Radiohead625 »

What do you guys like to use for the bedroom/recording?

I've been looking at smaller amps for recording, but nothing has really tickled my fancy yet. I'm looking for something I can push with an open vintage Voxy vibe, but with decent bass response. It also must play nice with fuzz. I tried the Vox Ac4, but it was very dead to me. So what do you guys like playing?

Mysterious Multivox amp.
Fucking destroys. I'm currently mapping out the schematic so that I can hopefully turn it into a pedal that approximates the gloriously shitty SS 6" speaker toanz.

Silverface vibro champs thru larger speakers - 2x12s, 115s, etc.
Pretty much any version of the Gibson GA-5 or GA-5t. Modern or vintage, tweed or not, SE or PP. Don't matter, sounds fucktabulous.
Gibson branded (goldtone-series), Trace Elliott designed GA-15RV. Pushing it at 12-15 watts, but a beautiful clean to edge of grit recording machine.

Had an Epi VJ running 2x6550, SE into a MusicMan 115 for awhile. Fuck yummy yes.

Going to cheat a little bit and also say that I have totally enjoyed my Orange Tiny Terror from day one.

I use a VHT Special 6, which is supposedly based on a Champ-style circuit and it's exceptionally good value (£120 new). The Ultra version is probably a lot more versatile but it wasn't available when I got my Special 6.

I'm still using my Little Giant since '09, hasn't even needed to a tube change. Granted that i've had other amps since then, this amp has always been reliable.
