Which amps work well with both Bass and guitar? Preferably not too expensive, and it's not like I'm looking for a pristine "studio-quality" sound either, as I like my gear to have character. :P

Cheap Bass amps that work well with guitar.
As I get ever closer to owning a Bass VI, I realized that my current amp would not be able to properly handle a bass (hell, old man can hardly handle a guitar as it is...) so I turn my gaze into a new amp before getting the Bass VI itself, except I know nothing about bass amps. That's where you guys comes in, since you're all about that bottom end.

I probably shouldn't tell you this...

Yamaha 115B. There are a few different versions out there. Get the one with the distortion channel. Instant doom, no pedals required. So fucking chunk, so fucking cheap.

Old peavey bass amps.
A lot of the 115 combos sound good with guitar as well.
TKO series and the peavey 300.

Around $300, I can probably push $500 now if it's freaking amazing, but anything higher than that would have to wait a while. I have to keep my budget in check.

Not "too expensive", at least in my definition: traynor YBA-1. The bass version that is. Pro quality as well as character, both at the same time in one package

That Sunn Soni posted is also 2 months old, you could maybe talk him down, although I think his price is fair

I have an early 70's V4 that I'd sell you but it's in Jacksonville and I'm in North Carolina.

$275 (pcb west )

Butt seriously, if you find one of those Yamaha combos, do not hesitate to buy. They have tons of volume and growl like mad.

How terrible could it be? There's another guy near you with a B@#$%^&er head and a Peavey 4x12 cab, so you could get this head and that cab if you don't want a 1x15 with tweeter.Peavey mark 8 bass amp and acoustic b110 cab. Will sell seperately

^Truth^ I got a Yamaha B-100 and a 2x15 cab to switch up from bass to guitar. It's got the distortion channel (which is more of a fuzz) w/footswitch and the thing slays. The whole rig cost less than $300.John wrote:I probably shouldn't tell you this...

B100s are great. I find them a little underpowered for bass but for a vi I think it would kill. Also Bob Mould tone.
