Orange MICRO terror

Post by JohnnyC »

just about exhausted watching all the youtube demos, some are terrible, some are great.

anyone have/use one?
what cab/speakers?
like it?

i think ill be picking one up, just because its small, and i have lots of tubes and a spare 1x12.
the cab has a middle aged Celestion G12T-75 (not my fav speaker, but i scored it for $15)

I've got one, I dig it. I've used it with an open back 1x12, and with a 2x12. It's sounded great with everything. It's surprisingly loud

WGS Reaper 50
I'd also used it with the lower 30w version as well

i have one too. it is indeed pretty loud. not much low end, though (you can squeeze a bit more out if you use an EQ in front).
i changed the 12AX7 to a 12AU7 because there was almost no headroom at all.
it's pretty great sounding, though - all in all, i just wish there was a *little bit* more ass.

If in the US, get Humbucker Music to email you their best price--they do the best prices on new Orange gear. IfI rcall, thwir price on the Micro was super good.

I've been looking heavily at the terror series to replace my aging and not too good Rocktron that I got free after my old amp burned. I'm probably going to wait for the inevitable micro dark terror. :doom:

I've got one but mostly just using my Ashdown bass amp for everything. I'll hook it up tonight I think. I also switched the tube to a 12au7.

Anything you want to hear?

It's a solid state power amp so I'm almost positive that you can mismatch to 16, just don't get below 4.

Have one. Love it. I play through an orange 212. In my band the other guitar player plays through a thunderverb 200 and a 4x12 and my micro terror keeps up. Obviously he is attenuating like crazy, but we both get great tones at the right volume for drums and bass and 2 guitars. Definitely needs help from pedals IMO. My ep boost is almost always on to sauce it up a little and make the little tube work harder without just turning it up all the way. The hiss is pretty bad if the gain goes over 3 o'clock.

Can any of you Micro Terror owners vouch for the long term durability of these amps? I just got one and it only survived one practice session. The next time I went to turn it on, nothing. I sent it back. I'm hoping this one was just a lemon, and I want to get a replacement one, but my confidence has been shaken a bit.
