please help me understand amp head vs speaker wattage!

okay, i can't seem to figure this out. i have an acoustic 150 head that i use for my guitar. i believe it's a 100watt amp. i'm building a new cab for it right now, and i was planning on just putting ONE speaker in it.. i have a pair of peavy scorpion 12" guys that were both in my old cab but it was too heavy and i never turned it up past 2 or 3 so i figure i can lose one... but now i'm wondering if one speaker will be okay?

here are the stats of the speaker (not sure if mine is the 4 or 8 ohm)-


so i just need to know if running a 100w amp into one of those is OK to do, and how can i know in the future! thanks!

yeah you'll be fine. those are all rated 100w over your head or more. You just don't want to have more watts from your head than your speakers can handle, you'll push them too hard and they will get wonked

The wattage will be fine but the ohms are just as important. If they don't match up, you can damage the amp.

I think you're unlikely to damage an acoustic 150 with an impedance mismatch. They're not near as sensitive to it as tube amps. Usually with those old solid state heads you mostly just stand to not get full power if there's a mismatch.
