PLL?

Post by intothegroove »

Hey everybody

I love the PLL sound, that little IC is magic, and after building myself a crazy beast of a PLL I would ultimately like to add a PLL pedal to my lineup. This will only happen if I can get the PCB's made for it because It's just to much to build by hand  and the separate PLL pedal will not include the Squarewave fuzz, it's focused on just the synth voices. I put some options for voting but if you guys had any ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear them! Thank you!

If the first option is to have the pll be all the parts of a pll sans the square wave fuzz, yes.

I will own a PLL clone or two at some point. The value of the damn pedal combined with it's fragility made me bail on it, not how it sounded. Both the fuzz and the pll sounds are amazing.

For you, I would probably consider where the final cost would lands as it seems once pedals cross a certain threshold, significantly less get sold.

What I'd personally love to see is the whole kit in big box with three or four switches
- PLL ON/OFF
- Mult/Divider (switchable) ON/OFF
- Fuzz ON/OFF
- Momentary (configurable settings like the original outboard one)

With a reimagined digital interface for the drone that allowed for sequenced program storage of tone generation.
Expression ports for lag, response and loop time.

It would be it's own instrument. I'd stop playing guitar/bass and just switch to playing that.

---

PS: Would/Could you make me a squarewave in a smallish box? What do the generate and regular knobs do? Volume in and out?

Cool ideas - more PLLones! Don't you need to generate the squarewave so that the PLL will track correctly?

Option 1 and or 5. Might as well add extras.

The PLL I built has the squarewave on it's own separate circuit and I just have the voices on the other. The voices alone work great and it's not really necessary to have the squarewave drive it. It's just an added feature that you can split off of the op-amps

I'm feeling option 1. Would be cool to upgrade the Square Wave, and introduce a PLL without making a massive unit that we might not be able to afford as easily

Right on skully! I am going to try and get a demo up of the new SG, and I am totally feeling that way to, having separate pedals would be really cool and give more options to each of the features of the big PLL

As long as you let me etch them Andrew all of the above options. :)

I personally would totally buy a more affordable/slimmed down stand-alone PLL focused on the synth sounds, we all have fuzz to combine it with anyway. It'll be rad whatever you do though :thumb:
