Fender Twin or Super Reverb

Post by Andrew21502 »

Ive been looking to upgrade my amplifier. Im currently using a Peavey Valveking 112. However, I really been looking into buying a new amp.
I like the deluxe, but 22 watts wont serve my needs, so i been debating about a Super Reverb or a Twin. Anyone have any insight to which is better?

Twin, because that's the one I use.

Jokes aside, if you want >85w, go for the Twin, otherwise, Super Reverb.

Depends on how loud you need to be, and speaker preference, both amps share the same characteristics. The super reverb is 45 watts, and a 4x10 combo. The twin reverb 100 watts and a 2x12 combo. If cost is an issue traynor makes some awesome blackface type circuits, although those are quite a bit harder to find, the yrm-1 is pretty much a super reverb equivalent, and the ygl-3 is a twin equivalent. The traynors are somewhat grittier as they run on el34's/6ca7's, compared to fenders 6L6's.

I love my traynor yrm-1. Plus kurt ballou and jack black love there yrm-1's, so I'd say they're good amps, but if you can spring for the fenders they are very nice amps also, I know I'd be happy with any of these amps.

Right now, I'd personally prefer 45watt with 4x10 speakers, but again: It just boils down to what suits your taste/style best. Imo there's not a whole lot of other tonal differences between the two :idk:

So there's no "better" in this case, especially not without knowing your style of music or your tone preference or whatever :idk:

Best part is that if you can find one they're usually cheap.

The size of a small refrigerator though.

One notable difference is that the Super Reverb can get a bit more breakup at an earlier (re: non ear-splitting) volume level.

I think the Super Reverb is a more practical gigging amp but if you want lots of clean volume and a little more bass response, then go with the Twin Reverb.

I remember those, a friend of mine used to gig one, and kept it bungied to a dolly at all times, I used to laugh about the presentation, along with everyone else, but definatly understood his thought process, they're pretty heavy.

Yah I happen to like Tenacious D, seen them live years back, and like any gear head, was checking out jack blacks rig, noticed a traynor head, and a traynor combo. Didnt even know what a traynor was until that point. Was sitting back watching Saving Silverman a few months back and noticed the same traynors being utilized for there neil diamond cover band. Jack was playing a traynor yrm 1 4x10, was amusing to me considering I had recently purchased the head version.

Twin. Becos you can never get that UNFORGIVING LOUD 3D CLEAN from any pedals. Ever.
Not even Super Reverb.

Is it ok if I rub my body against your rig? Or is it frowned upon?

I've never seen Sapporo in a normal sized can

I have a super reverb. I love it like I suppose some would love their children, except I loathe children and I'm contemplating a vasectomy.....
