He comes across like an absolute gent! Love the whole setup. The tape machine is so simple but so badass. Also, really cool to see his approach to using the modular stuff live. I have to say I think he's a brave man doing that, although he's obviously more of a master at his modular than I am of mine. Wonder if he's had any moments where the modular's done something totally unexpected on him during a show? Also i got a chuckle at him saying the wooden controller thing makes much more sense to him in terms of notes etc. That thing left me baffled!!

Fucking oath. I got to meet him (and the rest of the NIN incarnation circa 05-06 or so, Josh Freeze, Geordie etc....but not Trent) when I was working at Lone Pine. They all came down to cuddle Koalas.
Josh is also like the nicest guy on the planet.
Twiggy was a dick.

When he's talking about Hurt, for example, he has 4 chord drones recorded on to the tape, one on each track. Then when he's playing the song he simply "plays" the chord by turning up the corresponding channel. He also uses the tape pitch control for pitchbends.
On other tracks he simply has noises/drones/whatever recorded on them and turns them up as desired.
