Guide for setting up intonation/action/etc

Post by Moustache_Bash »

I'm pretty sure I've already asked this, but is there a good online resource you guys like to follow when setting your guitars up?

The Guitar Player Repair Guide is a great starting point. Read it front to back, repeat and then put skills into practice.

Do you guys use straight edges or similar when adjusting the truss rod?

Not necessary.

1. Tune guitar.
2. Put capo on first fret.
3. Press down on lowest string at last fret.
4. String is now a straight edge.
5. Measure action at 8th with feeler gauges.

Make sure you remove the capo and slack the strings before you start playing with your rod. ;)
