Yeah, i'm being that guy.
So, I've just got a cheapy Ampeg Bass 210 cab. I don't really have the money or a real investment to track down a better Bass head as i'm just playing Bass in my bedroom at a low bedroom level, no high volumes. If I were to use my ENGL Gigmaster30 head through my Bass cab am I going to do any harm to my head? I'm really preferring it to any of the practice amps i've looked at. The Cab is rated at 100w and my amp is 30 watts.
Yeah, sorry dumb question but I just want to confirm. Bass guitar through Guitar amps is a no no, I was always under the impression that it was just the guitar speakers that can't handle Bass - so I was thinking that playing through a Bass cab would negate any issues especially at low volumes. Though considering that i'm playing 70% guitar, 30% bass, so i'm not primarily playing with this set up.

Yeah you're fine... Higher Cab wattage won't hurt your amp...

You're totally fine. And as a matter of fact, I play my basses through a guitar amp every single practice and every single gig (on track for about 30 gigs this year) with never a problem. Most guitar amps can handle it just fine. It's guitar CABs that probably won't be very happy handling the bass frequencies.Andrew wrote:Yeah, i'm being that guy.

like other said it's completely fine. you just don't want to do bass into a guitar cab because the speakers aren't designed to replicate the lower frequencies. I personally run guitar and bass thru the same bass cab and I think it sounds great! you lose some high end on guitar but I usually turn down the treble anyway
