Am I looking for Fuzz in all the wrong places?
The only bread board layouts I've found are on the Beavis Board page.
Surely there must be some sort of Bread Board Layouts for Dummies available for Fuzz and Dirt circuits?
I've managed to bread board a ColorSound Fuzz from a schematic but that's about as much complexity that I can get my head around and it just doesn't sound quite right (The fuzz, not my head, maybe both)
Anybody know of any Bread Board Layout Links??

I say you just keep trying from schematics. You'll need/want to learn it eventually anyway.

Thanks Jero, will do.
I am getting better at learning from my mistakes.
I've drawn out a 1 Knob Fuzz breadboard layout. Once I've got that and a couple of others mapped out I'll put up a post to share them.

Did you have any schematics in particular that you wanted to breadboard? I can board it up and post a picture so you can see the layout. There are so many right ways to do it though, that's why I recommend learning vs seeing and painting by numbers, so to speak.

Wow, that's a generous offer, thanx heaps.
Something simpler that would really help me out is if you could answer two basic questions so that I could get my current project boxed and running.
I'm still sorting out getting my 1 Knob fuzz breadboard layout to a point where it's worthy of boxing but it's VERY LOUD!!
I've tried upping the resistors but it's still way loud.
I'm wondering if my problem might be due to transistors rather than resistors.
Q1) Do Silicon transistors vary in how much they amplify, similar to how germanium ones do?
Q2) Would it help trying different BC108 and 109 combos in hope of finding a matching pair that don't amplify as much as the ones I've breadboarded?

A1) They may/do due to manufacturing tolerances but shouldn't as much as older ge parts but check the spec sheets for said transistor and a range will be listed.
A2) BC109 has slightly more gain then BC108, I wouldn't think it would make a major difference....
This is an simplification but if you pull up spec sheets and look at the hFE rating that can give you an idea of "gain"
