I would like to put over $1000 in parts & labor into my guit

Post by Chankgeez »

Who wanna help fund it?

Here's my guitar:

Image

First thing's first, it still has its original cast cheap-ass bridge on it sometimes the strings pop off.

I wanna get some kinda fancy bridge like a Staytram or a Mastery or even a Bigsby style or something:

Next, the trem arm bar holder is cracked.

I was thinking of replacing the whole thing with something fancy like this:

Image

Then, before I got it, someone had replaced the tuners with Pings.

Nothing wrong with 'em, they work well enough, but I figured since I'm having work done to the guitar, I'd replace 'em with some fancy Waverlys or such:

Image

I like open back tuners much better. (In fact, I like open back everything much better.)

The electronics also need work and it also needs a new pickguard.

So, please, feel free to contribute hundreds or even thousands of dollas to the cause. I will start a Kickstart if/when necessary.

Thankin' you in advance,
Chankgeez

You could buy half a case of dynamite and solve the problem and record the sound.

Think of the toanzes.

Be behind safe marked line when detonating.

Explosive toanzes are tempting, furtkamp, but I love this guitar too much to do that.

I'd miss it.

I don't think I'd blow it up even if you paid me $1,000,000. Well, maybe. :idk:

Yep, Schnikes, and I fear I'll probably never be able to afford 'em.

Inter-Mark Cipher

It is really cool, thanks.

I bought this one years and years ago:

Image

I liked it so much I picked up the other one. The body woods are different. The four pickup is much heavier, but despite my preference for lighter guitars, I almost always reach for the four pickup when I go to play.

Is this a question?
If so, then. YES. That guitar with those upgrades will be HOT. It's already hot. Do those switches get in the way all time or what, though?

The switches don't get in the way, but they're temperamental. (actually only one of them really is: MIC 2+3. It doesn't always work when switched on.)

They're spring loaded and really old at this point. The springs are worn, you have to do all the switching manually. It's a little annoying. So, annoying that no guitar tech ever wants to try to fix it. So, I've been thinking if/when I get all this work done, I'll just have a different switching system installed.

For the curious, the switches are (from head to tail):

MIC M: all pickups on
MIC 1: neck pickup
MIC 4: bridge pickup
MIC 1+4: neck + bridge pickups
MIC 2+3: middle two pickups
MIC 0: this is a kill switch and is supposed to reset all the switches

You can also depress any combination of the switches together (except the kill switch). So, if you wanted neck and middle pickups, you'd just push both MIC 1 and MIC 2+3.

Yea, the spring-loaded is a gimmick really.

I'd look at OOP options in the rewire too.

Yeah, thanks, a lot can be done with the switching.

This is still all just "theoretical" until I can raise over $1000 though.
