BBM pi: worth stripping?

Post by neonblack »

hey guys. i have a bass big muff pi sitting around and I was thinking about stripping the components out of it. I don't have much experience with pedal circuits. does anyone know if there's anything worth taking out of it? or maybe some fun/worthwhile mods for it?

Why were you interested in stripping it? I understand that circuit to be pretty close to the civil war muff. A fan favorite.

I cant find a setting on it that doesnt disappear in a mix. Its not very sought after so I cant sell it. i give it to my toddler to stomp on so he wont stomp my pedalboard. its just a paperweight at this point. And it's pretty beat up.

I recommend selling it. If you have no circuitry experience it'd be worthless to keep around unless you're planning on starting. Even then I don't think the parts are full of mojo.

I imagine that it's all SMT components for the most part and not worth the hassle of deconstructing, especially if you are inexperienced. You'll just ruin it and make it completely worthless. Sell it for what you can or trade it for something else. It might be just enough to sweeten a trade offer to get something you do want at a better price.

Filthy is always good!

I'd probably only get 20 or 30 bucks tops. I'll just let my kid stomp on it. Pedalboard insurance.

Not worth the trouble, IMO. Circuit bend that mother.

Tight. I recommend a feedback loop for starters.
