James Iha is pretty hilarious. the "Should i light myself on fire" comment gets me everytime I see that video. and "said sadly..." is one of my favorite tracks of aeroplane, it's the song I'd do a cheesey cover with my girlfriend of. :hobbes:

"that's the next band, don't upstage them!" oh d'arcy.

The Pumpkins aren't the same without Iha. Listening to some of those tracks even though Billy was the driving force a lot of aspects of the Pumpkins "ambience" came from Iha. There's a kind of softer side there almost.

i was always a pumpkins fan, from "Gish" onwards.

billy used to live in tampa in the 80s pre-Gish -- no one would play with him, so he moved back to chicago. tampa was all about the hair bands and metal bands back then.

tampa FUCKED UP

i thought Gish was really quite special....

whenever i listen to james i always have an urge to suddenly punch billy in his big bald head

james is such an amazing artist, and nice person, he is always respectful to billy, never publicly bashes him, but then billy calls james and darcy a mean spirited person and a drug addict. and how he says that james just ditched the band after the metro show, billy come on, be respectful to the man. if really upsets me to her billy talk about one of my most respected musicians, i respect james much more than billy.

rant over.

:( that bully

also did you hear darcy's babbling on q101 a few weeks ago? i feel bad for her too, billy bashes her and the only thing she says about him is how talented he is with his vocals.

on another note: ...said sadly is one of the best mcis era songs, and be strong now always picks me up when im feelin blue...which reminds me, at least billy admits to blew away's awesomeness and that he didnt stick his shnose in the song and change it.

i miss her and she sounded so out of it. sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo out of it. i hope shes not messing around with hard drugs still, i really like her and she always did seem so sweet/ silly/ goofy...definately a person that i would be friends with..if i were cool enough. to sum it up, i miss darcy, she should stand up to b0llster, and she should be less shady.

and once again, fuck billy. im done worshipping him (i finished that about 1.5 years ago actually...zeitgeist-now :erm: )

I tend to agree with this. I remember watching a documentary done just after the band initially split up in 2000. Someone said about her (I think it was Gooch) that she was told "if quitting this band is going to save your life, then quit the band". She needed to get out, whatever problems she had at the time.

I will say this, I recently saw the episode of Chris Isaak Hour with the pumpkins, and in the interview with Billy and Jimmy, Billy again brought up James just leaving the Metro after the last gig without saying goodbye, and he also tells a story about how a few years after, he saw James talking to someone in the street and waited until he was free and was going to try and speak to him. As soon as James was done, he walked off without even adressing Billy. If that's true, I don't know what to think. Either that's really cold of James to do this if Billy was maybe trying to patch things up with the man he spent 12 years in a band with, or he still bears some kind of grudge against Billy. Which begs the question why he didn't leave sooner than he did. I think this might have been just before Billy posted that blog about how the break-up was all James' fault, and D'arcy was a mean-spirited drug addict. Like just after Zwan fell apart. The interview was fascinating, especially as it aired just after Jimmy left.

I'm not drinking the Corgan Kool-Aid, but I found that story intriguing if it is indeed true.

billy is full of shit. billy clearly stated james was the reason the band broke up. can you imagine, walking down the street, and you see the man that blamed you publicly to thousands of people for the separation of one of the biggest 90's bands/? would you stop and say hi to him? fuck, billy you cant just bash the people you were closest with for 13ish years and then expect them to be friendly to you. i think if that story is true, then james was right to ignore b0lly.

also, where is billy that he is seeing james on the street?!?!? i gotta get there.
