I tend to agree with this. I remember watching a documentary done just after the band initially split up in 2000. Someone said about her (I think it was Gooch) that she was told "if quitting this band is going to save your life, then quit the band". She needed to get out, whatever problems she had at the time.
I will say this, I recently saw the episode of Chris Isaak Hour with the pumpkins, and in the interview with Billy and Jimmy, Billy again brought up James just leaving the Metro after the last gig without saying goodbye, and he also tells a story about how a few years after, he saw James talking to someone in the street and waited until he was free and was going to try and speak to him. As soon as James was done, he walked off without even adressing Billy. If that's true, I don't know what to think. Either that's really cold of James to do this if Billy was maybe trying to patch things up with the man he spent 12 years in a band with, or he still bears some kind of grudge against Billy. Which begs the question why he didn't leave sooner than he did. I think this might have been just before Billy posted that blog about how the break-up was all James' fault, and D'arcy was a mean-spirited drug addict. Like just after Zwan fell apart. The interview was fascinating, especially as it aired just after Jimmy left.
I'm not drinking the Corgan Kool-Aid, but I found that story intriguing if it is indeed true.
