You can get different sizes from small bear by the foot. If you're gonna do it, use a heat gun to shrink. You can use a lighter but that can melt other things. Blow dryer would probably work, too.

Thanks...are there a couple of general 'go to' sizes for hook up wiring and screened cable? I'm in the UK so I won't be buying from Small Bear - probably ebay where I buy everything else.

You can also get a box of assorted sizes: 1/16 - 3/32 - 1/8 - 3/16 - 1/4 and possibly 3/8

I am using the lighter without any problem for many years, but it all depends on what lies under the shrink :)

Yeah, just get the stuff at Smallbear. You can get higher quality stuff at various places, stuff with higher shrink ratios, adhesive lining, etc, but you usually don't need it.

I like little butane heat tools (like the soldering irons with heat blower attachments) to melt heat shrink, but you can use a lighter or even your soldering iron. It just depends how much room you have.
