Phase Shifting via pot?
I'm looking for a way to set a phase shift to a pot. This is not an onboard mod request, but I'm looking for some help on designing for a circuit.
I'm sure that I could do a ton of research, and look over my old books and find a method, but it'd be much easier if someone could start by pointing me in the right direction. I'm basically looking to get a circuit that will allow me to take an input and put it at MAX 180 Degrees from the source with as little amplitude drop as possible, with a potentiometer controlling the shift (so far right=180, far left=0, with it being pretty linear).
It's part of a pet project I want to start on now that I have some income.

Yes, often when I partake of the marijuana, phases shift fo' me.

Re: Phase Shifting via pot?
So are you looking for a phaser type of thing or an in-phase/out-of-phase type of thing?

Re: Phase Shifting via pot?
Ideally, it'd be in->shift->out. I'm really just looking for help on how to build a single component of a larger pedal that I might (finally and actually) prototype.
Something that would give the type of effect that an onboard phase shift might, but I want to be able to move it on a pot from 0-180 instead of a switch that goes straight to 180.

I'm still not exactly sure what you're talking about, but maybe these'll help?

Like this? http://www.littlelabs.com/ibp.html Well, except used to fux instead of fix? All pass filter. Somewhere in here you'll find good info: http://groupdiy.com/searchresults.php?c ... 3j628849j2

Re: Phase Shifting via pot?
These are definitely resources I've been looking for. Thanks guys!
My hope is really just to build a circuit that will put an average wave (I'unno, 440hz?) into 180 degrees out of phase at max. If I can find a way to get a digital circuit to average it (so, for example, max on the pot always gives a 180 degree phase shift regardles of frequency), that would be incredible, but I'm not counting on that.
I've got an idea or two regarding phasing that I want to try out. I'll let you guys know how it turns out
edit: Yeh. ICs for phase shifting are a tad pricey. I might invest in one just to do a proof of concept, but they are not particularly cheap, compared to like, low voltage audio amplifiers and stuff. $30+ per IC. Eck.

Re: Phase Shifting via pot?
OK, so, you're looking for a phase splitter.
I think Dunwich Nick may've built something like that. Maybe you should talk to him?

Re: Phase Shifting via pot?
there no easy way to uniformly change the phase of a signal and keep the amplitude fixed in the manner you are asking about

I think that something like this: http://pdfserv.maximintegrated.com/en/an/AN184.pdf is more or less the foundation of what I'm trying to do. I just need a way to keep the degree shift somewhat consistent, which if it can't be done analogue can probably be done with an IC or Microprocessor if need be. This would significantly up the development cost, but I'm willing to stomach that.
Also:
I believe this may actually do the trick for what I'm looking for.
I'm essentially looking to split the input signal and phase shift one of them by degrees on an adjustable interval. This is actually almost exactly what I was hoping to find, and when I'm able to sit down and look over the spec sheets in depth, I'll probably know more about whether or not it'll work in application.
Is anyone with a somewhat intricate knowledge of this stuff willing to PM me/hit me up on FB to discuss this? I'm really trying to work out the execution of this idea. :\
