(No longer a) Secret baritone?
Sorry for the weird title.
Anyway, I've been itching badly to get a baritone guitar (thanks ILF) and I've been looking around for some cheap choices. I was looking on Rondo music and noticed that this guitar:
http://www.rondomusic.com/corvis627p90nat1.html
is at 27 something" scale length. So, that's basically like a baritone, right? I could essentially just slap some heavier strings on it and tune it down and boom, I got a baritone, right?
If the answer is yes, is there a easy way to un-tremelo the bridge? I just don't like tremolos. I'm sorry, everyone.

Re: Secret baritone?
That is a baritone, it even says it in the description.
I don't know if there's a way to block those Jazzmaster-style vibratos, but there may be.
(I have a "Douglas" branded Japanese banjo from the Seventies.)

Re: Secret baritone?
Stupid fucking headstock. It just seems so ugly.
On the other hand I really like the extended scale Harm 1 that they do.

Re: Secret baritone?
Oh, duh. I didn't really read the description, I just saw the scale length.
Its not a huge deal, I just don't use a lot of tremolo, and I find it kind of a pain in the ass to tune a guitar that has one (in my experience, anyway). Now to find money.
And yeah, its an ugly headstock, but ash body offset baritone guitar with P90s for $200 (which literally hits every mark but maple fretboard)? Not gonna complain

Re: (No longer a) Secret baritone?
You may be able to lock it or take the arm off. Either way, should be fine. Shouldn't really present any tuning problems.

Like Chank mentioned you could always lock the trem for more stability (trem sports that feature in the pics) tho I've never had tuning problems with my offset trems after a proper setup. That said, when you're talking $200 guitars there's other factors that may affect tuning beyond that trem. I'd budget for some simple hardware upgrades with this one if you plan to buy it.

Re: (No longer a) Secret baritone?
ha ha, yeah, you could easily spend more on replacement tuners than you're originally gonna be paying for the guitar itself.

Re: (No longer a) Secret baritone?
I guess but you could also spend like $30-$40 on a gotoh set and call it a day. Tonepros/Kluson can be had for around $45 on eBay as well. Regardless, upgrades start to defeat the purpose of an inexpensive guitar but I've found them necessary over the years if it's a keeper.

Re: (No longer a) Secret baritone?
From the pic it looks like there is a trem lock already on it. That's one of the great things about those trems.

Re: (No longer a) Secret baritone?
There are hardtail conversion plates for Jazzmaster/Jag style trems out there.

According to this sold reverb listing, https://reverb.com/item/19831-rhoney-ja ... sion-plate they're not being made anymore (at least not by Paul Rhoney) but I imagine you could track one down if you hunt for it, especially on offsetguitar.

I feel like you could rout the headstock into a sort-of-Tele shape.

Re: (No longer a) Secret baritone?
I'd love to get my hands on a baritone/27" scale guitar. I feel like the string spacings on my strat are too tiny for my fat borderline-arthritic hands.
Also, are Agile Baritones worth the money? I've never played one myself.
