Pitchshift shoegaze in Eventide ?

Post by jb2106 »

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone with a Pitchfactor or H9 had found an algorithm of preset that mimics the detuning and pitch shifting that you can hear in shoegaze records ?

The Mr Black Downward Spiral looks fantastic for that pitch shifting shoegaze stuff but I was wondering if I could get the same sound with the Eventide...

Thaaaaanks :)

Probably since most classic shoegaze gear is pretty basic.

But examples?

Shoegaze pitchshifting = delay/reverb + generous use of the trem bar.

I know there's a BOSS PS-5/6 setting for trem-bar flutter emulation. I'd be surprised if Eventide doesn't have a similar trick available.

You should use pitch vibrato pedal or a 100% wet chorus with a very very slow LFO with the depth cracked up!
Another option is a delay pedal with Speed and Depth controls for the modulation, and use the same settings like above.

Vibrato --> Reverb ---> Fuzz = instant shoegaze (without a trem bar). :!!!:

Play the chord/note you want to play a half step lower and bend the strings up to the chord you meant to play. Bend the neck, abuse your guitar.

That's interesting for the chorus ! I should try that !!

I already got a vibrato, a beaten Boss VB-2 that I got for cheap and although it sounds wonderful, I don't get that trem bar shoegazy sound at ALL with it....

The pitchfactor/h9 can do that with the harmodulator algo, though it is an expensive solution if you don't need it for anything else.

For the price of that (or, really, those) pedals, you can just buy a Squier Jazzmaster, which, really, that's the way to go for "that" sound.

I might have to get the danged Behringer clone of the BOSS to hold me over for a while.
