Fender Hotrod Deville Ext. Cab question
Sort of a noob question..Saw this acoustic 1x15 cab on craigslist for $100. Can my Deville power it and the 4x10s in it?
The cab is 8ohms.

As long as you have an extension cab out and the 4x10s are also wired up at 8 ohms you should be good running both and setting amp to 4 ohm load.

If u wanna run two cabs their impedance needs to match. Just set the amp impedance selector as needed. With 2x8 ohm cabs, your amp is seeing a 4 ohm load. If the 4x10s in the combo are already wired at 8 ohms you're good. Otherwise, you'll need to re-wire or get different speakers in one of the cabs to get a match.

Not necessarily true their total ohms need to match the output you are using. Running two 4 ohm speakers in series equals 8 ohms while if you ran the same speakers in parallel you would have a 2 ohms total. That all being said there is some leeway when running a HIGHER ohm cab into a lower ohm output on your amp though speaker performance might suffer. Invest in a ohm meter (like $5) and learn how to use it with your speakers and measure.

Running higher ohms from amp is better than other way around so you won't deal with flashback but still, matching is best.

Yes matching is best...my main point was depending on how you hook up the cabs (series or parallel) but you def wont have 8 ohms at the end.

Yep and the second point being that you can get away with more ohms in your cabs total versus you amp output. Though I will say some amps are more forgiving than others. For instance when I've had twins in the past they tend to be pretty robust to mismatch either way so read up about the deville and see what other people have done in the past but be careful.

So what would I have to do in order to use this cab? My old 5150 just had a switch to change the ohm rating..
I'm a noob when it comes to amps.

Just googled the Deville 4x10 and it's wired up at 8 ohms which is perfect for your situation. Simply connect the 8 ohm 15" cab using a speaker cable and the extension cab out on the back of your amp, then set your amp's ohm selector to 4 ohms as this is the load it will see coming off two 8 ohm cabs. All good.

I agree do it and be sure to use speaker cable.

I bet the Deville sounds MASSIVE with an added 15" cab btw.

Re: Fender Hotrod Deville Ext. Cab question
So I just looked into and there isn't an ohm selector on the amp. Apparently, the amp "self switches" once you plug in a cab.
So just asking one moar time..the 15" cab would be fine?
