Loop Pedal for delay trails

Post by Iommic Pope »

So, I want to get a cheapo analogue delay as a stop gap until I get something better, in the distant future, and a lot of the options don't do trails, so I was thinking...
How hard is it to build a parallel type loop that cuts the signal to the loop, but allows the delay/whatever else is in the loop to trail on? (I thought it'd be cool to have it run patches of stuffs, as you would.)

If this is a thread already, point me in the right direction, and apologies.
Also, I can't find a schematic as every thread I dig up about this on the internet seems to confuse people and they just go, "buy a delay with trails". Not helpful.
Also would be cool to stick it in the one box with my true bypass loop.

Any thoughts, oh genius council of ILF?

How about an A/B pedal, with a y-cable out of the delay. Send A to one side of the y-cable, and send B to the delay and then to the other side of the y. Send the joined leg of the y-cable to your amp or whatever's next.

That could be a good solution, cheaper maybe too.
Thanks man.

Confused by Pope's question, or by my possible solution?

I know you get it, John, but maybe I wasn't clear enough.

Parallel loops allow the signal to be cut to the pedal, but allow the wet signal from the pedal to trail out, in the case of a delay.
I'm sure Ax knows that, I probably just worded it like shit.
Still toying with the idea of building one, I think a volume/mix control would probably be necessary.

And a couple of buffers. Passively mixing those two signals will most likely not work without significant volume loss.

I had this idea a long time ago and Mcspunkle actually invested the time to build it and sell a few. this has been done before. you guys are on the right idea with buffers and unity gain mixers.

I think loop master still sells one. I know one of the loop pedal people do or did.

That looked pretty interesting.

Those T1M boxes look perfect...but pricey. The basic TB box starts at $49 and then the trails option is an additional $25. Then I have to add international shipping and a 6-10 week wait period minimum.
I am gonna keep em in mind, but at this stage it might be cheaper to DIY.

Found these:

Obviously I don't need two loops. Just joining a TB loop to the second trails loop.

If you get it at all. Long story short I got burned by Dan and it took years of emails and finally a complaint with the BBB before I got my money back.

I've nothing to add regarding your trails box (except that it's a cool idea!) but would hate for you to get excited and waste all that time on a headache.

Fuck. True.
Thanks for the heads up man. Looks like I won't be doing any of that.
