Son of a bitch. [ Jimmy leaves the Smashing Pumpkins ]

Post by Ghost Hip »

That's the nail in the coffin for me. Time for me to get lost in 87'-00'. I understand Jimmy probably left for family or side project things. I just can't see this turning out well.

Coming down from my siamese dream. :(

You will be missed Jimmy.

Agreed. It's just a fucking charade now. This is the first time in all of the mess that I'm actually pretty pissed off. It's the Billy Corgan Band to me. I get the feeling Devi will have to upload a new smiley to express herself.

If i may sound like the "i'd love to have a chat with the president." I'd love to have a chat with Billy. It'd be the most sincere conversation, at least on my end.

Bottom line: I used to be proud to say "i love the smashing pumpkins." Now I feel I have to defend myself and I feel like a fool. :mope:

spose you're right. I haven't gotten into Janes Addiction (yet). Might be the right time. I've always liked Dave Navarro though... After watching that live video.... josh Todd is way more appealing in jane's addiction than buck cherry. I saw buck cherry on leno.... I wanted to vomit.

Whores is a pretty wicked song too.

i'm trying to take this news well, but at this point i'm really not sure how i feel. lots of people talked some crazy shit when d'arcy and james weren't a part of the reunion, but this didn't bother me in the least. BC wrote 99% of the band's material. Who cares who's playing rhythm guitar and bass? then i saw the band live, and jeff and ginger rocked, and i really didn't care anymore, because they proved to me that they could not just hold their own, but really *make* it their own. but.... Jimmy's drum technique is one of the big things that set them apart as a band, and more than that, the interplay between Jimmy and Billy is one of the things that made the band so special. i love 'adore,' don't get me wrong, but even Billy has said in interviews that it's more like his first solo album than a SP album.

BC has also made no secret of the fact that he doesn't care what the people who are stuck in the past think of what he's doing now. he considers the band to be up and moving forward as if it had never split up, not sticking to nostalgia tours and playing only old material. i can respect that too. i was there at the TFE tour when people were calling out "play i am one!" "play zero!" but he didn't do that, he stuck to the material he was there to play because he believed in it (though he did sneak in the opening notes of 'today' in one song). didn't he open the first zwan show by saying "we're not going to play any of your favorite songs."

but the thing is... i think that the core fans that stuck with him thru zeitgeist like myself don't *care* about the name any more than we care about the lack of iha in the lineup. we're going to check out the songs, buy the record, see the show, because we genuinely enjoy his songwriting and performance, not because of the name. i *love* the future embrace. it's truly one of my favorite records, not just of his stuff, but period. why not just be 'billy corgan' if you really *do* want to keep moving forward, and really *don't* care about holding on to something old?

so why cling to the name?

Huh. I saw that coming. I gave up on them after listening to Zeitgeist for the twentieth time trying to get into it. Now the whole Smashing Pumpkins thing is just... :idk: :wahwah:

At least we have the old days to remember!

I JUST NOW GOTTEN INTO JANES ADDICTION AND THEY ARE THE SHIT!!!!!!!!!1
Dave Navarro is awesome too, i loooooooooved his solo album back in 2002 i saw his video for rexall
he looked pretty bad assed he had that whole image like im rich rocking mother fucker and it sucks
or something i dunnoo......

but yeah jane's addiction is great ive only heard a few songs from various albums but i ve heard all of Strays so far and its good.

also if any one has heard saigon kick they are kind of a wild card.......some of their songs make you say what were they thinking but most the time they rock, some compare them to jane's addiction but i fail to see it.

saigon kick has made my past two days :excellent:

OMG SLUNK IS THE SHIT when i was 13 i bought lull and blue was my fav song, makes me qry evveyr time i hear it. :yay:

Well that's cool. Still disappointing, but oh well as long as there's no "bad blood."
