What brands of bass strings.....?
I need to know what brands of bass strings have the cloth/string/fabric wrapping on the tuner ends of the strings. I have to use a heavy bass string for the low end of my silly baritone, and the non-wrapped ones break because the scale isn't long enough and they unwind. The wrapped one I have was given to me in a trade and it works, but I need a new one!
Thanks!
Thanks!

D'Addario fo sho.
I had some Dean Markley Blue Steel rounds with silk, but then a different type of their rounds didn't.

Hmm. I wonder if the D'Addarios are only wrapped if you buy them in sets? I've gotten some single, long-scale D'Addarios, and they weren't wrapped.....

Hm, I guess I've only gotten sets of flats/chromes from D'Addario. Hopefully someone else chimes in.

I know it's not DR. They don't wrap any of their stuff as far as I know.

It used to be D'addario. Maybe they stopped with the cost-cutting / packaging changes of the last few years. Hm.
I looked through a few brands on Juststrings.com (http://www.juststrings.com/electricbassguitar.html), and they didn't mention cloth binding in any descriptions... but maybe contact their customer service dept and see what they say?

Rotosound.
I know, because I complained to them about it. Why a company would put such a big wrap on a short scale bass string, I have no clue.
gunslinger_burrito, what size string do you need? I think still have a set of Roto RS66S I bought for my wife's bass that have about a week of install time and about 6 hours of play time on them. 40-50-75-90. Nothing wrong with them at all beyond the fact that no string manufacturer with an understanding of physics should sell a worthless short scale set like the RS66S. If one of those will work, I can ask my wife if I can send it out to you.

GHS and Fender do.
FWIW I only use DR strings.

Re: What brands of bass strings.....?
Thanks man, but I actually need a 100. I've tried tuning a 90 down to D and its way too floppy. The used 95 I have is kind of floppy, but playable. I had bought a single D'Addario 100 and it's the one that broke.Mike wrote:Rotosound.

D'Addarios break, that's what they do, I somehow don't think it's got anything to do with the silk wrapping.
