Anybody like Acid Mothers Temple?

Post by Helter »

I know they're fairly popular and I just listened to the "pink lady lemonade" album and loved it but so much of their stuff is so out there (not in a bad way). I just thought i'd start a topic here and hopefully get a few recs for songs similar to this album/song. I just don't know where to start!

And if you haven't checked them out, id say its worth a listen.

DUDE YES!!!!!!

Love me some Acid Mothers. You should check out all of the offshoots as well, equally as trippy!

Also, one of the best live performances I've seen, hands down

oh they are greatness indeed, and their albums are all over the place. you can sort of judge what the music is going to sound like based on the album art, and what its a parody of. or not really  just jump in wherever, you really can't go wrong. importantrecords stocks them.

i've been diggin this lately

Nope. I kept buying their records for years and years because on paper they're a band that sounds like something I'd really be into, and I kept thinking I was missing something in their music, and maybe it'd be this or that record that would really move me and everything would fall into place..... But I don't dig it. I hate cottons shriek, I don't really dig any of it. And now all the CDs sit in a box..... No hate, but I don't think it's any good......

Love them, but they're one of those bands that has SO MUCH out it's kinda hard to keep track and I tend to stick with the few records I know I like.\

If this was a Nadja thread I'd have very different things to say that my ranting above - I fucking LOVE Nadja. My favorites are the collabs they've done with Fear Falls Burning, Atavist and Troum but most of it is killer..... he used to work down the street from me and I would email him, find out what was in stock and amble over and pick up the newest releases.... that was before they moved to Germany. Toronto did not appreciate this fucking band!!!!!

Not to get too far off track, but the Nadja/Black Boned Angel is one of my favorite collabs of all time.

Back to AMT:

Their bassist is AWESOME with a DD7

Oh yeah, both CDs of that collab are exceptional. I gotta spinty those again, it's been too long.

And I should link you to our bands demo when it's mixed, both bassists use massive brutal amounts of delay

I love them! I have a handful of their cds and albums but they are the best live! Kawabata Makoto is one of my favorite guitarists to watch.

They come to Austin at least once a year so I've seen them like 10 times or so... Definitely a better live band because they put on a hella show... I found that once I'd seen some of the stuff live the LPs made more sense... I could stand between Kawabata and Hiroshi FOREVER!!!

LOOK AT THEM!!!

Also some of the nicest dudes I've ever met and they will draw all over your LPs if you let 'em...
