Dunno about builders making it specifically, but if you find a schem, we've got plenty who would build you one. Have you explored the Shark Tank yet? Lots o' good dudes in there. I can personally vouch for LaoWiz, DannDubblewe and Jero when it comes to custom clones/builds, but have heard good things about plenty of the other builders.

Thanks for the input. I have seen some schematics for it but need to do some more research. I don't think its a popular fuzz but something about it has my attention.

No, I havn't been into the shark tank, I'll start lurking around in there and hopefully a trend will start. This site has the tendency to get me all GASsy, would be a lot cooler to support an independent builder.

Thanks again :)

No prob! Some of the guys there are pretty schooled on obscure stuff, and willing to work on vetting schems.

I totally hear you re: GASsyness. I think I had two, maybe three pedals when I joined ILF. And now... :picard:

I can do it here in a couple weeks, if you don't find one or someone else by then. That being said, I don't have an original nor have I ever played an original, so I'd just be going off of schematics online.

Edit: I found gut shots online and retraced it. The schematic I have is correct :thumb:

i really don't know. the selmer used 2SA221germs, and the hofner used BC108B silicon transistors.

They are extremely similar. Could both be built with the same layout if you mounted a part or two offboard. Some of the difference in parts are due to the transistor change. I'm sure there is an audible difference between the two.

i don't really know enough about circuits

yes, the selmer is actually more subdued and smooth for a fuzz in the mid 60s or whenever. has lower gain.

the hofner came out years later, and is know for its serious lowend. although I believe its also balanced as well. higher gain, more aggressive.

edit: the selmer was based on the fz-1.
