buzzy fuzz

Post by decomposing »

ok think I need someone to set me straight on this
need some buzzy fuzz guidance from you out there fuzzland
have a fuzz stang and love it, I think... :idk:
but after some more old school tones.

bee baa is on the radar, probably getting the warthog built

loving on the orpheum raunch and found the mahoney clone, any others?

and finally stuck on the maestro tone that stang doesn't quite give, it's different. saw the ghost effects clone and liked that one, any others worth mentioning?

also looking into a peppermint fuzz to cover my fuzz face needs, fuzzhugger suneater looks disgusting when that arrives, and a scarab deluxe as a swiss army fuzz... but schniky that would be a lot of fuzz!
halp.

basically looking for what would compliment what I have in the fuzz stang
the bee baa looks crazy
love the maestro raw buzz, can the bee do that or is it too raging?
also really digging on the mahoney acid fuzz. mostly because of the orpheum raunch.
any other pedals do that stuff well?
the peppermint looks tasty like I said too, but redundancy is key here too.
I have a BSM that's modded that I'm hopefully going to put said fuzzi in the FX loop to drive the separate octave and filter sections.
hopefully makes some sense?
thanks for the halp

sorry not familiar with the fuzz stang. just listing some fuzz i own thats buzzzy.

beebaa is awesome, i just got it yesterday....nicely textured od, two fuzz tones that are both pretty raging but one is a but thicker in the midrange perhaps. if you like the maestro because of its gated and how responsive it can be, the bee baa has a sustain knob but it doesn't get into the fz-1a gated range, its also not quite as raw in the same way the fz-1a is. it's more similar to the maestro fz-1S, which has a very similar set up to the beebaa. i guess the sustain adds a thickness, but theres still the raw raging fuzz around it. if that makes any sense....

otherwise you could check out youtube vids on the other pedals i listed and that's gonna give you better advice as I'm not familiar with your gear.

also, the beebaa is awesome :!!!:

goodluck :)

Some ILFer (can't remember who) spoke glowingly of the Bigfoot Spaghetti Western fuzz - http://www.bigfootfx.com/

Mojo Hand has the One Ton Bee, which could be cool... it's their tweaked version of the Fuzzrite. http://www.mojohandfx.com/shop/one-ton-bee-fuzz/

Also, a mod should move this thread to Gear. You'd probably get more responses there....

thanks for the replies, time to watch more pedal demos!
but somebody summed up the fuzz stang great with this line>
"Grab a Fuzz-Stang! It sounds like a Fuzzrite, Ashbass on bath salts (the 'new' acid), but in a good way."
you can't get it all in a few fuzz pedals. hence this site. ;)
and saw an FZ-1S clone made by Smitty pedals that will satisfy my raw buzzy needs.
but the orpheum is so disgustingly pleasant to my ears.
and the only I've found yet that is purchasable is the one from mahoney which is a combo fuzzrite/orpheum but still sounds rad.
the basic audio pedal looked awesome but I found myself wanting all of them, so I figured I should stay away. for now.
*creeps into the shadows*
and totally my bad for incorrect location of this post.

:idk: ok after some research, probably too much,
think it's down to either an FY-2 or Bee Baa clone.
what you guys think? kinda leaning bee baa to compliment the fuzz stang since the FY-2 is pretty nasty at some settings
wanted to like the superfuzz and maestro fz-1a/s but think the stang covers that stuff better.
at least I'm down to these 2 for now.

you can't go wrong with either. more tones in the bee baa, plus the boost which adds some interestingly colored texture/od to your clean tone. could put a kill kill filter in front of the fy-2 to good effect. in front of the beebaa the kill kill would really open up alot of tones......that's a really good idea. i'm going to go do that now. :)

no affiliation but someone just put up an original shin-ei fy-2 for sale at a fair price in the b/s/t

heh nice. is the kill kill anything like the filter in the BSM?
I'm attracted to the fuzz wah pedals because of the wails and screeches, but think those would be too thin overall and would be doable with the BSM filter loop no?
or at least my feedback loopers? :idk:

and now my crazy brain thinks that the Acetone FM-2 might be more up my alley, though I do like the bee baa.
but I think I need some trash and this seems more controllable than a superfuzz? though they say it's based off the big muff and sounds like an evil tonebender. I'm starting to think as well that maybe the FZ-1S might be something to think about adding too. so tasty, and simple.

I really like some of these tones around 12:00 but not confined to that, just was listening to it now. beautifully gnarly stuff.

not sure what the bsm is? but...the kill kill is just two identical eq's in one box with a separate stomp for each. so you can set one low, one high for ex., and add to the tonal range of whatever you plug into it. only one eq on at a time. take a simple fuzz pedal and have three different tones lined up.

speaking of fuzz/wah, the foxx volume/wah/fuzz is amazing. you get the foxx tone machine with....four maybe extra tone settings, like bright to dark or something...its not in front of me to check....plus you get the octave up switch. i love putting a wah in a feedback looper and that beast makes things very interesting indeed. also, the foxx wah is anything but thin. pretty win win win pedal.

theres an ace tone fm-2 on ebay, or was. i remember a youtube video where they were demoing octave fuzz' pedals and the acetone sounded the best to me. like a less polished beebaa. i kinda of want one too but need to play one first.

the maestro fz-1s is maybe my favorite fuzz, both of its fuzz setting are gnarly but setting two is just over the top ten thousand beeezzzzzz attacking your eardrums fuzz

grails kick ass. you into Holy Sons and om too?

the BSM is the bass micro synth, and had mine modded for separate filter and voice section via some footswitches and already had a FX loop for adding new sounds in between the filter and voice sections, also has expression for controlling the stop frequency. but that kill kill sounds tits. I was lusting after a stone deaf filter, but this sounds better. I'll keep an eye out for one.

the foxx seems cool but not really doing it for me. really keep coming back to the FZ-1S but not quite as trash as I want. but that's a sound that I lurv! bees! which I thought the bee baa would do too, and it kinda does more refined though. so many choices, so little time and money.

so maybe I'll jump into the fray with LaoWiz's FM-2 clone, he said on another forum he built one with the mid scoop on a switch and didn't want to let it go I think. now add a mid scoop knob, maybe a switch to jump between stock and custom scoops, or a blend! holy schnikes! but that's maybe just me?
and smitty got back to me that he has a FZ-1S available, decisions decisions...

and yes OM are amazing. haven't heard the other, but will check them out. heard the Sun City Girls?

Oh yeah, i dig Sir Richard Bishop. Check out Rangda, its bishop with Ben Chasny of Six Organs of Admittance/Comets on fire. pretty great.

Holy sons is Emil Amos, drummer of Om now, and member of Grails and Master Musicians of Bukkake among others. Its his solo project from over the years, real lo-fi singer/songwriter sort of like Will Oldham but more experimental music and his albums have different flavors to them.

ahhh BSM, the classic. yeah i've got one of those, but not as pimped out as your's :thumb: The kill kill's filter is not similar.
