replacing squier classic vibe precision pickguard

Post by dase »

I've done a bit of a search on this and I can't find much apart from on talkbass, and even then it didn't really answer what I wanted. And I don't wanna ask the question on there because I don't back a 'hot singer babe' in a praise and worship covers band or whatever...

SO ANYWAY. I have one of these:

I'm gonna chuck some new pickups in it soon (probably Steve Harris signature ones), while I'm at it I'm thinking of switching over the guard to a gold one, big and thick for preference (TWSS) like the one on the squier mascis jazzmaster. Has anyone swapped out a guard on a classic vibe p? Can anyone tell me what will or won't fit? Cheers dudes!

check the google, as there are plenty of shops/people you can send your old pickguard to and they will cut you a replica that's an exact fit in whatever new look you want. would cut holes for pups however you want in whatever size etc.

good luck

Yeah UG and just search CV Precision Pickguard and you'll find something... I've found that parts aren't swappable for a Classic Player Jazz but now that there are more out there I can find somebody makin them... Probably contact someone that cuts 'em and tell 'em what you want...

yeah sorry I should've mentioned I spent a good lunchbreak googling it and couldn't find anyone with a straight answer. Getting one cut might be the way to go.

Could just spray paint the original guard gold, not like it would diminish the value much/at all :idk:
Way cheaper, too.

eh, I have a feeling I'd mess that up pretty bad. Plus I kinda like the weight of the heavy gold style plates.

so I just yolo'd it and bought a 57 reissue guard off facebook, fits good enough! New pickup on the way, I have new tuners lying around somewhere and probably gonna get a bridge ashtray as well. Gonna make this bass dad rock as hell.

haha well there are several dads in the band...

But yeah it's just gonna be my practice bass for now. The aluminum one is killing my back for anything more than a half hour set.

I can understand that. That mofo would definitely get heavy after a little while.

it's funny because given humor, I'd consider those of us that don't even have kids (I have poodles) dads.
