Loud guitar amp that features a 15" speaker

Post by Ghost Hip »

Trying to find some good options for a friend. He loved his old keyboard amp that had a 15". He plays the shoegaze and what not. He wants an amp that can easily drown out a drummer. He wants this because of reasons. All I could think of is a Peavey Delta Blues. Budget is 500-700. Combo or head+cab. He'd prefer tube, but he doesn't really care as long as it is LOUD. Like JC120 loud. If all else fails he'll probs get a JC120.

Sock it to me. :excellent:

I believe fender 75 might be good if you find one.

Loud, shoegaze (ie assuming he gets his dirt from pedals):

Whatever 1x15 he can find (unless he hates freedom and wants to lug around a 2x15) $200ish used.
Fender SS amp head (RocPro, Mustang V, whatever). $200-300 tops.

I listed the old one in case he's averse to modeling. The Mustang V can be run in mono and is stupid loud (just run the marked out to the 1x15).

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

It may be, but it's over twice what the OP is looking to spend.

Pignose b100v works well and is cheap. Problem is one 15" has more trouble than 2 x 12" when competing with a loud drummer.

Considering there's relatively few combos with 15's, going head/cab is going to be cheaper.

Watch your local cl, 15" cabs can often be found for short money. I just got a vintage Fender 2/15 for pennies, and there's a kustom 2/15 for $25 I'm tempted to get and hide in storage....

If you can find it, my favorite 15" cab is the musicman ported cabs. Makes everything sound like a geothermal event.
