Wah fans?

Post by hazelwould »

I've been playing a Wilson Rippah 6position. It's a pretty sweet Wah and is capable of a ton of sounds. I'm getting unique sounds, but have other needs at the moment. I'm trying to move it, but aparently no one cares for Wah? These things are hand made and spendy and I'm not even getting a bite for $80 locally. WTF?

It seems like Wah has a bad reputation due to shaft, funk, blues/rock wankery.

So I'm wondering even here on ILF any Wah fans that have and would pay decent money for a Wah? Or is it just an unnecessary or hated effect?

And those who use Wah, how are you using it creatively?

I used a few and am ok with the Chrome 535Q... It's got the different notches and a boost and I like it before or after fuzz... Some of my favorite guitarists use wah quite a bit but I don't use it too much... I really like clean wah with phaser and delay, or clean through two wahs... It's right up there with compressors, you love it and hella use and it's part of your sound or meh...

Absolutely nothing wrong.

I had the Keeler Design Stretch Wah.

Sold it, I wasn't using it much... but I dont hate wah... when it's well use.

Marc Ribot use a wah on the latest Ceramic Dog album and it sound great the way he use it.

I anteed up and got a Wahoo. It's replaced every single wah I own, except the Mold Spore for really extreme stuff.

Don't think I'll be buying another wah in this lifetime.... or two.... or three.

Got a closet full of wahs lined up now, waiting for lay-off notices.

If it's good enough for Doug Wimbish, it's good enough for me.

i tend to park mine is one position and move it slightly from time to time. all depends

i put my deluxe pitch pirate before it, throw fuzz after it. its prettty coooool man

Wah is the shit. (If you don't use it like a faggot)

It's just very hard to find THE one, it seems. Lots of variables.

i like combining it with my whetstone too
hell, it's cool combining it with anything. can push your other effects into some different territory.
fuzz and hard chop tremolo. loop it while sweeping steadily and then reversing it on the DL4.

I used to be a wah freak, but none of them had the sound I was after.
Then I tried a Freqbox with an exp pedal....bam, just the sound I was after.
It sounds like a gritty wah when driven with dirt.

if you run a lot of fuzz into one of those white bass crybabies you can make sound like elephant being killed in some horrible cartoonish way.

When I had the Stretch Wah...my favorite sound was...

Fuzzy Lady > Stretch Wah > Fire Red Fuzz

(I don't have any of those pedal anymore).
