TC Ditto Question- Dirt + Verb + Stacking Loops Mix

Hey dudes- been REALLY thinking about getting a ditto, but I've gone through a ton of loopers and really don't feel like flipping another if it's not going to work out. Can someone do a test with theirs for me? Kind of specific, but if you could test it with about 8 layers of loops, at least two of which have verb before dirt and record it that would be AWESOME. I'm mainly concerned about how the loops sit in the mix and how the layers retain quality after being stacked!

With my experience though, it handles layer much nicer than the rc-2 I had. That's all I have to compare it to though and I know you've run the gauntlet of loopers so I'll hopefully have time to record something after class tomorrow!

Layers great but don't take my word for it. The key is to level the loops yourself. It makes it easier. Always can double a part is you need more.

I don't have the means to record a demo right now but I think you'll be satisfied with it.
The quality of the loops seems to stay quite pristine even with many overdubs. The mix seems fine but you have to pay close attention to the level you're recording at if you don't want the previous loops to disappear into the background.

I tested it out last week and for guitar with the amount of fuzz and distortion I use it got kind of muddy. The levels of the pedals were only slightly past unity.

HOWEVER. It ruled on both vocals and bass, I recorded a lot of layers of vocals with no problem and a lot of layers of bass with no problem. I apparently just use a shit ton of fuzz/distortion on guitar

I think you got to think about it from a sound perspective. I don't think the muddy came from the pedal's sound quality, but the speakers...if you have a bunch of sounds in the same frequency range at different times the speaker cone can't properly pronounce everything. I usually adjust the levels and play underneath it a few times to see how it'll sit in the mix.

I could be wrong about that, but whenever I have the same loop going split through my sub and guitar amp the sub muds out if I put a lot down and the guitar amp is fine. I wonder if PA speakers would work better.

Good question and nice thoughts, making me think about things! I like it.

Both of my cabs are loaded with bass speakers- the first being a 12LFC which definitely rolls highs, but the Delta Pro 12a I have in my other cab is more akin to a full range/hifi bass speaker which, when I have compared it to a regular guitar speaker sounds like (well, I guess an 8" guitar speaker in my valve junior compared to this speaker), doesn't hardly roll anything off and really just sounds like a 15".

I think I need to experiment with a volume pedal before my looper and test that out for myself with my DL4 and DL8. I guess I just saw it as a bit of a problem for me because when I loop with a DD7 I can loop 193712391273 layers of dirt at the same frequency but can oddly hear each one of them a little bit better. I guess that's why I keep going back to DD7's haha

Maybe if I had a guitar-oriented speaker to contrast the 12's, I could get more of a full range/no mud. Questions

Fucking LOVE the Delta Pro 12a dude. It's awesome. Plus you can put a ton of watts through them
