SO.....Bugera

Post by Moustache_Bash »

I kinda want to buy either the 1960 (plexi clone) or the 6260 (5150 clone). I've heard VERY mixed reviews on the internet. Seems like the general consensus is that they sound good, but quality is super spotty. It would seem Bugera may have fixed their quality issues with the newer Infinium series. Anyways, I was just curious to know what you guys thought of the company, and any experiences you might've had with them.

Threads suck without pictures:

A guy I know plays a 6260 and had to send it in...... Twice. The second round, if I remember him correctly, Bugera just sent a whole new amp. I can't remember the issue he was having with it, but yeah. He was saying it didn't matter and that he just wanted THAT amp because it sounded so damned good.

The more I think about it, I believe he said it initially had caught fire.

I don't know how long he's had the new one but as far as I know she's holding up fine

I use an older 1960, the non-Infinium version, as my main gigging amp. It's been almost 2 years now, and I've never had a single issue with it. Believe it or not, I think I've heard MORE QC complaints about the Infinium version than the old one. I've certainly read some horror stories on the web, so who knows, maybe I just got lucky and got one of the good ones.

It sounds fucking amazing. It really does nail the Plexi tone. I mostly use it for bass and use bass cabs with it.

My 1960 died a year ago (non infinitum ;) ). I got Full refund after more than one Year of usage. But The amp was not repairable! Honestly i would Stay away from their stuff now.

Every time I see I "cheap" amps thread. I try to recommend PV. Those things rule and are quality.

Seems too good to be true at that price range. Have they done custom amps for anyone?

there's a dude in a band we've played with a few times that has a bugera 5150 copy. it sounds like shit. and i like 5150's. i don't know if i've heard the marshall copies in person, but i don't feel that i need to. they're not what they crack themselves up to be. and i've heard a million horror stories about them breaking and catching fire or whatever. it is indeed a cheap loud amp, but i don't know if it's the best option for a cheap loud amp. hell, a used 5150 isn't that expensive, and will hold it's value pretty well. i would think you would be better off just saving a little more and getting one of those. for cheap marshall types of tones, i'd look into a sovtek or a peavey vtm.

I've played a Peavey VTM 120 - trust me, the 1960 blows it the fuck away tone-wise. It's seriously not even close. And I love Peaveys.

They're Behringer's line of tube amps. About as far from custom as you can get.

What's not to love?

Any amp with built in pyro is sure to endear you to audiences, bandmates, and venues.

I half want one now!
