best pedal board for touring

Post by stripes »

my band is going out mid september for over a month, and i'm thinking about getting a pedal board better suited for the road. we went out in the spring and i brought my pt-pro with the soft case... not only do i want to downsize from the pro, i really want something that has a hard case. we tour in a t&c and man do we have a lot of gear that sometimes gets drunkenly thrown into the van at the end of the night.

i'm trying to not spend a lot.. i've been thinking about bedroom boards, just getting a smaller pedaltrain with the hardcase, or buying one of those flight cases off eBay and using the bottom for my pedals. what have you guys tried? :idk:

Have a look at the Showman/Tourman. Definitely lighter and slimmer and cheaper than a pedaltrain with the hardcase but still very sturdy. I have the Showman and it's a solid board.

pt-jr (i think? fits like 6-8 pedals) with a flightcase is what i've used for years. it's seen a ton of abuse and tours, yet i won't see myself needing a replacement like, ever.

it's a little more expensive for the flight case but it last forever and also gives you the option of flying with it i necessary.

Bedroom Boards are cool and rock solid but the build time is probably gonna be too tight for a Sept tour.

i'm glad i shelled out for the hard case for my PT-PRO. & that was after SKB cases for my drums & lots of hard cases for synths, guitars & basses. often wish i had 'em for amps...

I have a shitty ikea board, and I went on a pretty long tour where I drank pretty hard...as did everyone else...and everything turned out pretty okay. I don't know what I'm trying to say. Uhhhh....yeah. Build a big box big enough for the board. Or honestly, whatever, flight case sounds good.

If you don't have any real tall pedals you could get an NYC 6-Pack pedalboard for a decent price. http://www.nycpedalboards.com/six-shot- ... ase-combo/

I had one a couple of years ago, then I outgrew it, it was nice and sturdy.

I have the Lunchbox and love it. Of course, sometimes I wish it was bigger. The downside is their turnaround time. Last I checked they were taking about 4 weeks to ship, which is understandable since they build each one to order.

Well, since You're not carrying it around AND You want good protection: Warwick RockCase aluminum pedalboard cases. I've got one (the large model RC 23020SA), and I can highly recommed it if You ever consider having any mishaps during the load in or load out with drunk people at the venue.

i've done great with my pedaltrain with hard case. they really are good. they have nicer cases now than they did when i bought mine too, all except the pt1 which still has the old style case. but that's what i have and even that is fine.

there's something about pedlatrains that i just don't like... :idk:

i've had a ptpro for a while now, and i'm not using enough pedals on this tour to justify bringing it. and i don't like the size of all the other pedaltrains..
