What strings should I use for a 30 inch baritone?
I'm partial to flatwounds. Do these exist for baritones?
I'm thinking maybe using strings for the Bass VI (which is also 30 inches)?
Thanks!

Good question. Something I'm interested in.
I bet if you can't find a string set that suits your need, you can contact a string manufacturer and they might piece you together a custom set. Maybe?

I think that there might have just been a pretty big discussion in the Squier Bass VI thread about strings- hit up that thread, or Schnikes about it cause I know he got a custom gauge set

I still don't understand how it's possible you guys don't have guitar stores that sell single strings. At least that way you can find the gauges that work for you before assembling a boutique set. I'm fairly certain you can get long scale singles from plain old D'Addario. It's how I put together a set for a 28" scale baritone tuned in fifths.
Also it depends on what tuning you want to use. If you're playing in Bass VI tuning, then Bass VI strings are probably what you want to start with. If you're doing something else, then. . . .

LaBella rules so hard, def my go to company for my 30" Bass VI custom sets. However, I think they only offer nickel plated OR stainless steel rounds in the custom sets. Prices are so fair, like $20-25 per set and wait time is only 7-10 days. Took me awhile to find the perfect set but I finally figured it out.kbithecrowing wrote:http://www.labella.com/category/products/electric/custom-set/
As for flats, they offer a Bass VI set, thinking it's the standard 25-95 set. Email 'em tho, they may be able to accommodate you. That's what I did for my Bass VI and they were super helpful.

thanks guys!
looks like a La Bella custom set is the way to go. Not many other viable options.
also, google showed me this: http://www.juststrings.com/lab-767-6f.h ... lab-767-6f. pricey tho

^ Yeah, those LaBella flats are def pricey, must cost a bit more to produce cuz the nickel rounds are a crazy bargain for a custom bass string set. Talk to Jason at Bass Strings Online if you want that Flat set, he'll hook you up with the best available price, guaranteed.
Otherwise, hit up LaBella and see what they offer in the way of true custom flat sets.
