Look up Lee Ranaldo. That's all he uses really
I've been thinking about putting a Novak or Creamery retrofitting WRHB in the neck position of my Jazzmaster. No routing or anything extra special required for it with the same technology

Re: Widerange pups in a Jazzmaster?
i know a guy who makes pickups, so that would not be a problem
he did my bridge pickup to Antiquity specs and it's pretty damn awesome
but i can't try the Ranaldo
so i'd really appreciate any reports on the sound, has anyone tried it? is it a lot fatter than the normal Jazzy pickup? I wouldn't really like that, I prefer the singlecoil tone and attack, so that's a big concern for me
but i can't try the Ranaldo

It's got body like a P90, but even more clarity and no hum since a humbucker from what I've heard

Re: Widerange pups in a Jazzmaster?
I have Fender WRHB's in my Toronado, and I had a Jazzy partsmaster with SD Antiquity II's in it. If I'm remembering correctly, the Antiquities were a bit warmer and rounder sounding while the WRHB's have great humbucker low-end growl with crisp high-end jangle sitting on top. Those WRHB's are really unique sounding. They actually push my low-wattage tube amp really nicely too. One difference though, which might be noteworthy, is that the Toronado has a string-through tail, so I'd imagine that brings the jangle out a bit more. Wide-rangers rule.
