good power options?

Post by Gozu »

looking to organize my board better and i need some power options i'm using a chained one spot and its getting a little messy. Most of the brick supplies annoy me as i don't need 12 or 18 volt supplies so i don't want to pay for something i'm not using.

is the mcspunckle tesla still available? any other suggestions for a decent amount of affordable power?

i think the 1 spot is probably one of the most affordable ones, if not the most. especially if u dont need any fancy power/polarity options.

There's a pretty big jump in price from 1spots to basic isolated power supplies in price, unless you're willing to go with Joyo style clones. Think DarkAxel went with one of those clone style isolated out supplies that was about 40 euros. If it's just messy wiring and not excessive noise that's bothering it might not be worth it.

They're worth every cent man, even though it is not the most glamourous way to spend your hard earned cash. They hold their value pretty well (at least in Sweden) should you want to flip it.

But that won't happen :)

YEP.
Buy a ciokolate and never worry about power again.

Though honestly I had no problem with the onespot and only replaced it because i needed extra PSU's for moog/strymon stuff and didnt wanna carry a power board around anymore.
I think at one point I had about 17 pedals chained off it working fine.

I have a Carl Martin PowerJack and the VoodooLab PP2+ here, both work well.

I haven't jumped up to a brick yet because I haven't found one that'll do a MagicStomp right (12 vac 1 amp). If anyone knows one, I'm all ears. Until then, it's a power strip with a 1 Spot and some extra wall warts.

See if you can find the current draw on the magic stomp - there's no way it actually uses 1A. 1 of the 400ma sections should work, or you could get a sit cable that they have for connecting two isolated sections to double the current. I think they exist...

Syl, your Carl Martin is made by Cioks!

The pawnshop ebay vendor I got it from sent a non-original 800 mA wall wart that gets hot to the touch, so I kind of believe the 1A rating. :idk: I think this has been an issue with various digital stomps over the years, like the early Timebender having much more persnickety power requirements than the later revision.

Write to Cioks and see if they know anything. I've gotten quick replies the few times I've contacted them.

Damn you Yamaha.
