Is it safe to leave your pedalboard plugged in?

You can leave it plugged in but I would advise to leave the serge on too...

I unplug mine always as most any surge suppressor ain't gonna suppress a real deal surge. Same goes for amps. I've had friends lose computers, flat screens, DVRs, etc, etc during storms and these instances involved fancy schmancy suppressors. It's unlikely but I figure why risk it.

Turning it off breaks the connection between the outlet and my pedals. Am I missing something

I've left stuff plugged in and on that's not tube for literally years at a time.

Tube stuff I've left on for months or more and come back to no problem other than wear on the tubes. Don't recommend this, but back in the day when this stuff was expendible and cheap, you just didn't care.

Assuming basic surge protection etc., the stuff isn't going to care.

They're designed to be more "green." So several outlets are usually tied to whether or not a separate output is on. Like if you turn on your tv suddenly your blu-ray, DVD, VHS, satellite, laser disc, beta max, NES, SNES, sega, etc. all come on too. They're handy. I've used one where a couple printers, monitor, a scanner, and a USB hub all are off if the computer is off, but come on when you turn on the computer.

Yeah, it's fun. I switch on the amp and the pedal LEDs all light up and amp #2 comes on. The future is magic.
