Chernobyl pics & graffiti

Post by dronemachine »

I don't know what to think of this...at the moment.

I'm sure, however, that most people wouldn't go there to do this...take pics and draw graffiti, that is.

Why wouldn't they? The radiation is not that bad anymore over there. There are even people working at the power plant again. Currently they are repairing the reactor and they are planning on getting it to work again in 2012 i think. I went there last year. It's pretty impressive, especially Pripyat. You should go there if you get the chance before they tear everything down and rebuild it.

Radiation will stay in the Chernobyl area for the next 48.000 years, but humans may begin repopulating the area in about 600 years - give or take three centuries. The experts predict that, by then, the most dangerous elements will have disappeared - or been sufficiently diluted into the rest of the world's air, soil and water. If our government can somehow find the money and political will power to finance the necessary scientific research, perhaps a way will be discovered to neutralize or clean up the contamination sooner. Otherwise, our distant ancestors will have to wait until the radiation diminishes to a tolerable level. If we use the lowest scientific estimate, that will be 300 years from now......some scientists say it may be as long as 900 years.

I think it will be 300, but people often accuse me of being an optimist.

I know all about the tours and stuff, but I'm not sure if I would ever go there...I have my doubts about it.
Here's a site run by this girl Elena,i think that she was among the first people that went into the dead zone.
