Pbass pickups???

Post by THEBEERHAMMER »

So a friend is restoring a bass for me and i need a set of pbass pickups. I was thinking of going with delanos but i was wondering if anyone had some other suggestions? This will not be an active bass and may possibly have a RAT in it.....

i though the model p dimarzio had a lot of growl and mids. quarter pounder was to hi fi sounding tons of treble. i ended up with the duncan that is not the vintage but the next stage, antiquity ii i think. works well for fuzz. since you have two, maybe go mellow on the neck and hot in the bridge?

Yeah, those definitely had Dimarzio's in them. I know where you can get the electronics for that if you plan on restoring that as well.

Yeah im not sure if im digging the active electrics. I dont even really know what all that shit does anyway. My friends being so nice in restoring it i wouldnt want to impose asking him to put in all those crazy electric's...

And as far as lace pickups go im kinda like fuck lace. They give them out by the truckload to just about anyone in a band around here and while ive heard some good ones ive also heard some total dogs. Most notably the matt pikes. It seems like every pair sounds different with most of them sucking.

I'm a big Seymour Duncan fan/user/endorser, so I usually go that route. I have a set of the Steve Harris sig P pups coming, which are overwound vintage ones. Should be thicker than the Quarter Pound P pups (which I enjoy very much as well).

Seymour Duncan SPB-1, Fralin, or Nordstrand NP4 all get my vote!
