What's the word Ryan? Is it going to be up and running again soon?

Re: Dr. Scientist website
It's close! It's probably less than a month away right now, it really is close to finished and is being fine tuned and set up now. It's very fun and cool looking, high concept, very different from my last ones... I'm really excited about it!

I still remember chuckling to myself reading the hilarious pedal descriptions on that original site. Good times man!
I didn't even know about ILF way back then so that was my first experience with Ryan's uniquely awesome sense of humor.

Same here, I think I found ILF through the Dr Sci connection, I was googling Dr Sci the other day and landed on the old site, the descriptions are so hilarious and cool at the same time, makes you want to play it right away, the stuff of legends.
I'm also super stoked and curious about the new website!

Re: Dr. Scientist website
When I first read the description of Dr. Scientist four years ago, I honestly thought it was the coolest shit on the planet. I didn't understand "boutique" back then or smaller businesses, but it left an impression. I'll miss that old website.

Re: Dr. Scientist website
Thanks guys, that's really nice to hear! I really got into making up stories for all the pedals and I thought it was a cool way to have fun with the descriptions. It's tough writing interesting pedal descriptions that aren't too salesy or annoying.. and I especially hate pedal descriptions that talk negatively about other products, I think that's lame.. so I figured themes of adventure would be best!
It's funny though, with the new website we went the opposite direction...
It's the same guy as the original 2006 site and then the 2009 touch-up, my buddy Bryan, and in the years since we launched Bry has got a degree in website making and a different approach to the idea of a themed site... so for this new version it's a lot more stream-lined, a lot less reading will be asked of the viewer. Each pedal will have a short description on the main page with a link to the technical specs and controls info, and then also on the main page will be a viewer where you can choose between photos of the finishes or demo videos.
I'm a little nervous about it since it feels a lot different than the old site and has a LOT less writing.. but that much reading was a big ask for people, I feel bad asking that much time of people on the internet! So we're shooting for more of a visually fun experience with less reading and more info and fast access to demo videos.
But hey, if we decide it feels better with more stories about the pedals then we'll do that!

I'm not a marketing expert or a website entrepreneur, but things have changed since I began collecting gear. Back five years ago, people didn't mind reading big descriptions or cool stories. However, these days everything is in bite-sized amounts, and for arguably good reason. I think it's good to adapt to the new times. Flash websites were all the rave five to ten years ago, but nowadays what with mobile devices becoming mainstream, they're mostly done away with. Again, for good reason. The market is swarming with builders offering their niche products to the world. In 2006 you had a few builders and that was it. It forced you to spend time reading the descriptions, especially since forums weren't as popular back then. Nowadays, because there is so much competition in the market, in my opinion you've got to grab the reader and potential buyer quickly or they'll move on.

Re: Dr. Scientist website
I think this is still a flash site.. it has moving parts... we love moving websites around here I guess! We've got a simpler version ready mobiles but the main focus is intended for computers.
Super close to ready too!
