Pickups for telemaster

Post by colossus »

As stated in the title, I'm building up a telemaster/jazzcaster. Body is getting routed for dual hums. So far, I'm thinking a Mean 90 or Phat Cat in the neck, and maybe, maybe an SD in the bridge. I really want a warpig for the bridge but I can't afford that. Tonewise, I plan to use this guitar for downtuned doom/drone stuff. Thoughts?

Have you played the Mean 90? It gets some killer reviews, and thus far I've been pretty lucky with GFS quality. But really, bridge is what I'm having trouble with.

I've not played a Mean 90 at all, no :(
I actually had a Super Distortion in the bridge of my Telemaster and hated it in contrast to the Phat Cat so I took it out and went neck only. That's how much I hated the Super Distortion....

Damn haha. I'll probably go phat cat for neck. It's really the bridge that I cannot figure out. I don't know humbuckers too well. I know p90s and tele stuff way better.
