Changing Les Paul Bridge Help!

Post by Helter »

So I bought new pickups and thought I knew exactly what I was doing until I actually sat down to do it  . Truth is I don't know anything about guitar wiring. The old pickups appear to be just like one wire thats soldered to the pot and the pot terminal thingy (probably wrong) but the new pickup (bareknuckle black dog if that helps) has the four color coded wires but the only color coated wires in my les paul seem like its the pickup selector (?). Like I said I know nothing, I would just really appreciate if someone could tell me what colors to solder where or something. I don't know if it's possible to have the wrong pickups but I really hope I didn't buy the wrong kind ( if possible). Thanks in adavance as I'll be so grateful if someone can help me work this out today since I won't have time until the weekend :grumpy:

you have the proper pickups but the four wires allow you to do up some pretty sweet wiring options, like coil splitting, reverse phase, series parallel. i have never wired a guitar but i have a buddy that wired up some of mine with push/pull pots to take advantage of these options.
here is a link to bareknuckles diagram for the wires....

hopefully someone else could help out more...

Thanks man. I didn't realize those two wires aren't used if I don't want fancy wiring. Got it in with no issues!
