9v+ pedals. Solutions to big adapters?

I'm sure a lot of everyone knows that having a pedal with stupid power requirements isn't fun. I've had an MXR M-117 flanger for quite some time. And while I do love it, it's hard to live with. It needs 18 volts and it comes with this big ole adapter that I don't like having. I just want everything to be simple and to run off of my onespot. If I could ditch that other adapter, I wouldn't need a surge bar and an extension cord for my board and could just untie the long cord on the onespot and plug it in where ever. Easy

So! I've heard of mods (for 18v pedals at least) that somehow allow you to run it off of a 9v adapter. I think it involved using two outputs on the onespot plugged into the same pedal and adding up to 18 volts with some soldering magic. Anyone know who I can talk to about this? Or anyone have any experience after you're running 18v from 9v outs? No differences in sound, I hope.

Big MXR flangers specifically have a compartment for two 9v batteries. That might make it easier to do this... No idea.

If you could point to some very detailed instructions, I could do it myself but it's probably safer to just direct me to someone who can do it for me.

The one I have takes up a lot less space, isn't as bulky, but it's been working well for me! I put two one spots on it and 2 big adapters and I power my board with one plug

I can't not read this thread title as "nine volt positive" haha. Took me a minute to figure it out

You can make a charge pump to take 9v and bump it up to 18v. It's a pretty simple circuit. Probably the easiest way to add one if you're a beginner is to get the road rage board from madbeanpedals.com

And yeah having to use multiple power supplies is freaking whack.

I was just imagining some angry cartoon squid face on it because its legs are being all spread out.
Anyway yeah, I've just got a boring old surge bar but the cord on it is only like 1 foot though and it's kinda heavy for what it is cause it's way old. Maybe a new power source would work but I'd just rather have the mxr run on standard 9v anyway

Haha, I clicked on your link and had the same thing open in both tabs! Looks promising! I'll have to do some more digging to make sure my insufficient dyi skills can accomplish such a feat.
