As long as you daisy chain the older stuff it'll run fine off 9v. If you go with Cioks just use one of their split cables.

the power mods are probably uness... it would just be nice to get everything on a uniform v... but probably not worth the risk of screwing something up

When you daisy it chain the older Boss pedals, the common ground bypasses the few components that are there that require the pedal to be fed with 12v, so you can run em all at 9v. But if you get a Cioks DC you get a couple of outlets you can choose to run at 9 or 12 v.
